Nomination of Montreal Chinatown as a National Historic Site

Following the announcement by the City of Montreal and the Government of Quebec to designate Montreal Chinatown as a heritage area, Jia Foundation is working with various Chinatown family associations and benevolent societies, as well as Heritage Montreal to nominate Montreal Chinatown as a national historic site. Currently both Vancouver and Victoria Chinatowns of BC, as well as Boulevard Saint Laurent of Montreal (the Main) are national historic sites. Part of the work is also to learn and document the living heritage of the family associations in the history of Montreal Chinatown.
