
À propos de Fabriquées au Quartier chinois
Fabriquées au Quartier chinois est une initiative de la Fondation JIA qui vise à (re)tisser des liens sociaux, revaloriser des espaces collectifs et personnels et guider notre attention vers ces lieux et leurs habitant•es afin de dresser un portrait intime du quartier dynamique et inclusif qu’est le Quartier chinois, un lieu qui repose sur un sentiment d’appartenance partagé.
La suite du projet de narration photographique Fabriquée au Quartier Chinois lancé en 2024, cette deuxième phase est une série de 4 vidéos et 25 photographies (à venir plus tard en 2025), produites par la Fondation JIA. Elle met en lumière 4 entreprises importantes du quartier chinois de Montréal : qu’il s’agisse de médecine, de cuisine, d’art visuel ou de musique, ces vecteurs de transmission culturelle intergénérationnelle sont des éléments importants du patrimoine culturel immatériel des quartiers chinois de Montréal et d’ailleurs.
Malheureusement, leurs histoires sont peu connues, et encore moins racontées au grand public dont l’interaction avec les commerçants et les propriétaires d’entreprises va rarement au-delà de l’échange transactionnel. Cette série vise donc à remédier à cela, en révélant les gestes quotidiens, la résilience et la fierté qui rendent ces entreprises familiales essentielles à la survie et au bien-être du quartier chinois.
L’exposition Fabriquées au Quartier chinois 2 est en cours à la Maison du Quartier chinois di 17 janvier au 9 mai 2026.

Julie, la propriétaire sociable de ce célèbre salon de coiffure, travaille également comme gérante d’une école de danse et d’un salon de karaoké. Elle pratique aussi le DJing et l’opéra chinois. Les espaces où elle oeuvre sont au cœur de la vie culturelle et sociale de la rue Clark.
