Lancement de l’exposition Maison Yep-Riopel: Une histoire à plusieurs niveaux de résistance et d'appartenance |
🏮La Fondation JIA vous invite à sa première exposition dans la nouvelle Maison du Quartier chinois dès ce dimanche, le 30 mars 2025.
🏠« Maison Yep-Riopel : Une histoire à plusieurs niveaux de résistance et d’appartenance », conçue par Karen Cho, raconte l’incroyable histoire du bâtiment que la Fondation JIA appelle désormais sa maison. JIA a déménagé au rez-de-chaussée de ce bâtiment patrimonial en janvier 2025 et y a depuis commencé sa programmation culturelle et son organisation communautaire au cœur du Quartier chinois.
📍Cette exposition est gratuite et sera ouverte au public trois jours par semaine : du vendredi au dimanche, de 11h à 16h, d’avril à septembre. |

Portes ouvertes Plan d’action 2026 |
En 2021, la Ville de Montréal a adopté un Plan d’action pour le Quartier chinois, concentré autour de 4 axes : la qualité de vie, la vitalité commerciale, l’identité culturelle et l’établissement d’une plateforme communautaire. Alors que ce plan vient à terme, c’est l’occasion d’en faire un bilan et surtout, de mettre de l’avant les propositions de la communauté pour la prochaine itération de ce Plan d’action. ✊
Améliorer l’accès aux services sociaux et aux logements abordables, verdir le quartier, créer une société de développement commerciale (SDC), conserver l’héritage culturel du quartier : voici quelques-unes des propositions avancées.

Art, identité, et le voyage créatif avec Carmen Mok |
Lors de cette présentation, Carmen Mok, une artiste native de Hong Kong ayant déménagé au Canada pour étudier les beaux-arts, partagera son parcours de découverte de soi en tant que Canadienne d'origine chinoise et expliquera comment son éducation multiculturelle a façonné et enrichi sa carrière d'illustratrice. De la décision de suivre sa passion jusqu’à sa carrière dans l'illustration de livres pour enfants, elle vous emmènera dans les coulisses de son processus de fabrication de livres, tout en offrant des idées, des conseils pratiques et des histoires personnelles sur les défis et les joies de son travail.

Yep-Riopel House: A Layered History of Resistance and Belonging |
🏮The JIA Foundation is inviting you to its first exhibition at the new Chinatown House space starting this Sunday, March 20, 2025.
🏠“Yep-Riopel House: A Layered History of Resistance and Belonging”, curated by Karen Cho, tells an incredible story of the building that the JIA Foundation now calls home. JIA moved into the ground floor of this heritage building in January 2025 and has since started its cultural programs and community organizing here, at the heart of historic Chinatown.
📍This exhibition is free of charge and will be open to the public 3 days a week: Fridays through Sundays, 11 AM to 4 PM, from April until September.

2026 Action Plan Open House |
In 2021, the City of Montreal adopted the Chinatown Action Plan, structured around 4 main pillars: quality of life, commercial vitality, cultural identity, and community platforms. As this plan draws to a close, it's an opportunity to take stock and, above all, to put forward the community's proposals for the next iteration of this Action Plan. ✊
Improving access to social services and affordable housing, having more green spaces, creating a business association, conserving the neighborhood's cultural heritage: these are just a few of the ideas that are being proposed.

Art, Identity and the Creative Journey with Carmen Mok |
In this artist talk, Carmen Mok, a Hong Kong native who moved to Canada to study fine art, will share her journey of self-discovery as a Chinese Canadian and how her multicultural upbringing has shaped and enriched her illustration career. From pursuing her passion to building a career in children's book illustration, she will take you behind the scenes of her book-making process, offering insights, practical tips, and personal stories about both the challenges and joys of her work.
