Become a volunteer with the JIA Foundation

If you are passionate about our mission and have an interest in culture, heritage, and equitable community development, consider becoming a volunteer with JIA! Volunteering is a great way to connect with others, learn more about the neighbourhood and its people, and contribute directly to protecting and promoting Chinatown’s living heritage.

Volunteers generally help with tasks such as:

  • Event set-up/take down and registration
  • Greeting members of the public and introducing the JIA Foundation
  • Community outreach
  • Guided tours of exhibits
  • Translation
  • Manual tasks (cleaning, organising, moving etc.)

*We are currently in need of volunteers with Cantonese speaking and Cantonese or traditional Chinese writing skills. However, other languages are also an asset.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please fill out the registration form below! Once your form has been submitted, we will follow up with a short video call to get to know you and confirm your registration.

Sometimes we may also need help with specialised tasks such as graphic design, web development, research, photography, or skilled labour etc. If you have any specific skills or interests that you would like to share, please be sure to let us know in the registration form!
