Donate to the JIA Foundation
Your donation will help support JIA’s mission to protect and promote Chinatown’s cultural heritage through education, space activation, and community-driven real estate initiatives. Help us reach our $50,000 goal to enable the development and implementation of the Wing’s Conservation Strategy and keep Chinatown House programs thriving. As a young NGO, we do not have any permanent staff and we are currently surviving on project funding and lots of volunteer hours.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
Please note: JIA Foundation is a non-profit in Quebec and cannot issue tax receipts.

When JIA moved into 116 de la Gauchetière West in early spring 2025, we knew our first exhibition in the new Chinatown House had to be about the building itself. Its fascinating history of resistance throughout the ages has been showcased in our exhibition Maison Yep-Riopel: A Layered History of Resistance and Belonging, which has been open to the public every week, rain or shine, for now just over 7 months.
Our inaugural exhibition is now nearing its end, but its stories will live on in our new exhibition catalogue, which contains insights about the exhibition’s creation, testimonies from people involved and visitors, and curated discussions from our Fireside Chats series with exhibition team members Sandy Yep, Karen Cho, and Jean-Philippe Riopel.
All donations to the JIA Foundation over 60$, will receive a copy of the catalogue.
Alternatively, we still have a few copies left of Catherine Clement’s The Paper Trail to the 1923 Exclusion Act that are also available for donations of 60$ or more. If you already ordered yours and have yet to pick it up, please email info@jiafoundationmtl.org.
